Our traditional box sash windows are manufactured using fully F.S.C certified hardwood and are sprayed in our workshop prior to installation using the Teknos external paint system. Any paint colour can be matched to suit every individual pallet with the option of different colours on the internal and external faces.
The leaded sash weights give the authentic sash window feel whilst the specially developed draft seals cushion the window allowing an effortless sliding operation. (We also manufacture Spring balance sliding sash windows which are a more economic alternative to the traditional weights and pulley system)
We have a range of different style sash lifts and fasteners in a variety of finishes and fit a wind in security bolt for added piece of mind.
We can fit all types of glass from single panes to Low e double glazed units using the latest gases and glass coatings available. Our heritage style Double glazed units can also be produced using a handmade cylinder glass on the outer pane with a traditional putty style finish for the older dated properties.
Replacement Sash Ropes/Chords
Sash windows rely on weights, pulleys and chords to counterbalance the weight of the window frame and glass. Without this system of counterweights, the windows would be heavy and very difficult to open and close safely.
We can carry out a sash cord replacement and assist by making sure both upper and lower sash operate properly, to the correct high and closed position.
Sash Window Draught Sealing
Sash seals stop rattles & draughts as well as reducing noise & dust. Primarily they seal the gaps where draughts enter, thereby improving the comfort & energy efficiency of your home & saving you money on energy bills.
Our sash window draught-proofing & restoration service is designed to fix the most common problems associated with traditional timber sash windows.
Includes:
- Restoration of the inner box surface
- Renewal of the sash cords with modern cord.
- Balance and adjustment of the weighting mechanism, to ensure ease of operation.
- Replacement wooden beads fitted with integral draught seals
General Overhaul
After removing the existing window, we undertake frame and sash repairs before installing back into your existing timber frames. They are then painted to look like new. If new cords, weights or pulleys are needed this can be done at the same time.
Replacement Sill Section
If the timber in a sash window sill has become rotted or decayed, we will replace it with a new sill with painted, primed or bare timber. We have a team of experienced craftsmen to provide rotten sash window sill repairs and comprehensive restoration services for the traditional timber sashes in your home.
At the end of the sash window sill repair process, you’ll find your period sashes revived and restored to their full function and beauty.
Splice Repairs
If the extent of the rot is minor then we would cut back any rotten timber, treat and then apply a durable, hard-wearing two-part epoxy resin Repair Care treatment. Where necessary we will splice in timbers using traditional carpentry techniques.
However, there will be cases where the rot is too excessive and replacement is the only option.
